Resistance will occur in any type of air movement due to friction, thereby reducing the overall pressure in the flow direction. To effect and maintain the air movement, the pressure needs to be increased at some stage to compensate for the pressure loss. This is typically achieved in fan systems using radial or axial fans designed to boost the airflow in the direction of the outlet.
Definitions:
Static pressure: Ps
Dynamic pressure: Pd
Total pressure: Pt
The static pressure is designated positive or negative, depending on the pressures in the duct - whether positive or negative. On the other hand, the dynamic pressure is always positive and depends on the air velocity in the duct. The total pressure is equal to the sum of the static and the dynamic pressure at the measurement point, which can be expressed as: Pt = Ps + Pd

Fan types
Motors and fans are usually supplied as one unit designed for an optimum performance in a given filter installation, and it is vital to select the right unit for a given task. The speed at which the fan is to run can be seen from the graph for the fan. The required power input depends on the resistance in the actual system.Fan impellers are available in a number of models, each of which is designed for a given task. As a help to our customers we offer to supply the filter with an appropriate fan designed for the purpose, with the right airflow and the right pressure for the specific installation. We mostly deliver direct-driven, single-inlet, middle-pressure centrifugal fans, supplied with anti-vibration dampers and flexible connections for inlet and outlet.
